Verloop – Dégradé begins with a creative exchange between Rik Oostenbroek's artistic vision and David Aerne's generative systems. First, Oostenbroek carefully crafted his signature gradients by hand. Aerne then created custom algorithms to transform these gradients into dynamic digital compositions.
Through various iterations, the algorithm generated variations that kept the original essence while creating fresh interpretations.
The gradients were handpicked by Oostenbroek from numerous algorithmic outputs for the book edition (premiered at the Paris Photo 2024 Art Fair in Grand Palais). He selected them based on their beauty, striking contrasts, or unexpected elements that caught his eye.
Each collector is eligible to claim the book edition co-published by Nguyen Wahed & RRose Editions, 2024. ISBN : 978-2-9586199-7-8

Core properties of the algorithm
bookSeed
: The seed used to generate the piece in the book.
gradientName
: String representing the name of the palette used from the selected gradient generated from a collection.
The names are generated using a collection of 30241 names that David Aerne collected over the course of several years.
phases
: Number indicating how many steps are used in the gradient generation
flow
: String indicating the modification type for the gradient. Can be one of:
Noise - More chaotic outputs.
Pow - Incrementally growing gradients.
Linear - Straight lines.
Sin - Wave Shaped Gradient.
Cos - Wave Shaped gradient.
focus
: Number value that affects the gradient's zoom level.
Layout Properties of the algorithm:
orientation
: String indicating the overall orientation of the piece: Either "horizontal" or "vertical"
gradientOrientation
: String indicating how the gradients themselves are oriented: Can be "horizontal", "vertical", or "random"
irregularStipes
: Boolean indicating whether irregular stripe widths are used
reversedGradientOrder
: Boolean indicating whether the gradient order has been reversed

Mother is a twelve-piece narrative series by digital artist OMGiDRAWEDit, featured in the curated Tamagotchi exhibition at Nguyen Wahed Gallery. Each piece in the series is a unique, hand-drawn digital artwork, following a character’s struggle with the concept of digital care and dependency in an ever-lonely world. Through intricate visuals, Mother asks: Are we living in a Tamagotchi-like existence, where our roles as caretakers and dependents blur? As we become absorbed in our screens, we risk becoming invisible—losing parts of ourselves to our devices. The series invites viewers to question who truly cares for whom in the digital age.
VISTA is a generative art project that reimagines the visual language of early video games to explore the nature of artificial ecosystems. Drawing inspiration from the tile-based environments and vibrant color palettes of 80s games, the piece creates a space where landscapes and lifeforms unfold organically and autonomously. The maps are generated through procedural algorithms commonly used in video game design, while the lifeforms follow the unpredictable iterations of the Game of Life algorithm, mimicking the emergent patterns and behaviors found in natural systems. The viewer, rendered a passive observer, can navigate through the map to explore this self-contained ecosystem but is unable to interfere with any elements of the world. By inquiring into the boundaries between observation and participation, Vista reflects on the increasingly mediated experience of technology—an interface through which we observe, yet remain disconnected from the underlying processes and systems that shape the digital environments around us.

"8 Ball Sages" is a new interactive digital work from contemporary, genre-bending artist Ed Fornieles. With an interdisciplinary approach born out of the shifting mesh of the still nascent digital age, Fornieles’ practice focuses on the way technology and the internet are reshaping our lived experience.
