Inspired by the legendary CryptoPunks, PunkBlocks are a reimagination with a distinct, blocky aesthetic. Staying true to the classic traits of the original Punks, each character is compressed into a minimalistic block design, blending the old with a different perspective.

Prepare to time travel! XVIII Century Punks is taking everyone back to some 300 years ago. The collection features 5,000 randomly generated collectibles, each sized 35x35 pixels, that cut across the renowned CryptoPunks collectibles and the elegant portraits of the 18th century.

Artist Statement

As a collector, I was fascinated by the idea that a relatively small set of rules could produce an enormous range of visual outcomes. I wanted to understand how these systems worked, not only as a viewer but from the perspective of someone building them.

I do not come from a software development background. Between my work in medical technology and family life, I never found the time to learn programming to the level I believed would be necessary to create generative art myself.

Throughout the development of this project, I used AI as a learning tool and technical guide. It helped me understand concepts, solve problems, and translate ideas into code. The goal was never to automate the creative process, but to lower the barrier to entering a medium I had wanted to explore for years.

Studies in Signals documents my first serious attempt to understand generative art by building a system of my own. Every decision, from the color profiles to the trait structure and compositional rules, was part of that process.

Technical Description

Studies in Signals is built around five core traits: Color Profile, Composition, Density, Shape, and Axis.

Together, these traits influence the atmosphere, structure, geometry, and directional flow of each artwork, creating variation within a shared visual language.
